Crowns are caps made of a tooth-like material that are placed over a tooth that has lost its integrity as a result of decay, cracking, or splitting. When crowns are done right, they match the surrounding teeth exactly in color, shape and size, are virtually undetectable, and should last almost a lifetime.
A bridge is often in conjunction with a crown if there is not enough natural tooth left to keep the crown in place. Today’s bridges are custom-fit, comfortable, and often never need to be removed.
At my practice we place crowns and bridges so that patients are not even aware that they have them. That’s my goal: The most natural look. The most natural feeling.
